Hawthorn & Vine

Wine tasting evenings brought to your Chalet

After a day on the snow, you don’t always want to have to head out into resort to have a few glasses of wine with your friends.

We bring everything necessary for a fun, informative and relaxing evening to your chalet.

You decide on the style of tasting you would like, from the types of wines your group would prefer, to the balance between informative and fun. We can tailor the evening to you.

Would you enjoy an evening of giggles with sparkling wine as the theme?

A competitive evening pitting teams against each other to see who has the best nose, knowledge or flamboyance?

Or would you like to spend an evening figuring out what sort of wine you enjoy and how best to find it?

We start with how to taste wine. Why servers in a restaurant ask you to sample the bottle you have ordered and what you are looking for when you check the wine. After that the tasting is up to you.

We do tasting for up to sixteen people. Book online, give us a call, or send an email request and we’ll do our best to give you an evening you’ll love in the comfort of your chalet.

Available in Morzine, Montriond, Les Gets and St Jean d’Aulps. For another village in the region please contact us to discuss.

Wine Options

Some of the wine options available:

Sparkling Exploration

Most people only think of sparkling wine as a choice between Champagne and Prosseco, but Europe and, in fact, most wine producing regions will produce a sparkling wine of some sort. Try a few different regions with their own styles and flavours, learn about the different way these are made and maybe find a wine you you’ll want to make your new sparkling wine of choice.

€40/person for parties of 4 or more.

Wines of the world

In the history of the world, as soon as civilised man has settled anywhere for long enough, we have planted grapevines to make wine. We can’t bring the entire world of wine to your chalet but we can bring a few choice wines, from the old and new world to be tried and pitted against each other. You decide if the old world is still dominating or if the new world has a right to stake their claim.

€35/person (4 or more; enquire for smaller parties)

Wines of France

With over ten major wine producing regions, not to mention the amount of smaller lesser known regions, France has an absolute plethora of wines to sample. This can be done as an all red, all white or mixed tasting.

€35/person for parties of 4 or more.

A little of everything

Start with sparkling and work your way through to dessert wine. A great option to discuss pairing wine and food, what works well and what to avoid.

Hawthorn & Vine

Teri grew up in South Africa with an early exposure to the wine industry. Her father insuring most of the big wine producers in the Cape, at the time, meant constant excursions to wine estates. For a young child this meant playing in big open spaces, on old wine farming equipment and between the vines. This lead to a fascination in the industry that continued to adulthood.

After moving to England in 2008, she realised that the knowledge acquired to this point was very South African wine focused and that it was an absolute necessity to acquire further wider knowledge, and started down the WSET course route. This was not with the view of going into the wine industry, only to understand the wines now easily available. However, having found a subject she found so absolutely fascinating, with an apparent endless stream of possibilities, she continued and is currently doing her WSET diploma.

Something you realise when studying wine, is that wine and travel are somewhat synonymous. Wine regions are some of the most beautiful parts of the world to visit. From the undulating hills of Burgundy, perfect for cycling holidays; to the lake side holidays of the Franciacorta region, that allows the combination of wine tasting, truly scrumptious antipasti and water sport like wake boarding and kayaking. Or the Western Cape wine regions of South Africa, where many of the wine estates have restaurants pairing the local produce with the wine they specialise in and have realised that having children’s play areas are conducive to peaceful wine tasting for the parents.

Teri now spends most summers travelling around wine regions, particularly within Western Europe and South Africa, finding and trying wines. This passion combined with an equally strong love of snow sport has lead to the concept that combines the two…In chalet wine tasting. We want to share this passion for wine with you. Because wine is an experience best shared.
